If you (or a loved one) is wondering if any new symptoms you are experiencing might be coronavirus, there are online resources which can provide some insight. Check out the Coronavirus Self-checker from the CDC. It will guide you through when to reach out for medical care.
If you might have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever, cough, and/or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider. Symptoms generally appear 2-14 days after exposure.
In general, current recommendations from the CDC in cases of mild COVID-19 illness recommend that you stay home until you feel well and make sure to not expose yourself to others. If your symptoms worsen, and you have questions about your medical care, contact your primary care provider or consider scheduling a virtual visit, if your healthcare provider or health insurer provides that option.
Of course, if you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19, you should seek immediate medical attention, these symptoms could include:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
