Douglas T. Dieterich, MD Douglas T. Dieterich, MD

Dr. Douglas T. Dieterich is a Professor of Medicine, Vice Chair, and Chief Medical Officer of the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, New York. He has a triple appointment in the divisions of Liver Disease, Gastroenterology, and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Dieterich is an investigator for several ongoing studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of various antiviral treatment regimens for HIV and chronic hepatitis.

After graduating from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, Dr. Dieterich received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency internal medicine at the Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, where he was also a fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology.

A fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, he is a member of many professional societies. Dr. Dieterich has served on several committees of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, National Institutes of Health (NIH), including the Steering Committee of the Opportunistic Infections Core Committee and the Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Committee, and was Chair and Co-chair, respectively, of the Enteric Parasites Committee and Protozoan Committee. He also served on the NIH Study Sections for CMV and cryptosporidiosis. Widely published, Dr. Dieterich is the author of numerous journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters on viral hepatitis and AIDS-associated infections of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, and their treatment.


Robert Brown, MD Robert S. Brown, Jr., MD, MPH

Dr. Robert Brown is Associate Professor of Medicine & Pediatrics and Chief of Clinical Hepatology, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. In addition, he is also Medical Director, Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation, New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Brown is the author of numerous articles in the area of hepatology, many of which deal with liver transplantation and the management of viral hepatitis where he has extensive research funding from the NIH and industry. Dr. Brown is a special section editor for Hepatology, serves on the editorial board for Liver Transplantation and as a reviewer for the journals Transplantation, American Journal of Gastroenterology, New England Journal of Medicine, and the International Journal of Epidemiology, among others.

He is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, and a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and American Society of Transplantation and American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He received his MD degree (1989) from New York University and his MPH from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of California at Berkeley. He completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of California, San Francisco.


Cynthia M. Lachky PA-C

Cynthia Lachky PA-C began her career in GI and Hepatology in December 1999 upon enrolling in The Schering Corporation Fellowship Program in Liver Disease for Physician Assistants. After the fellowship, she remained employed by her mentor, Dr. Stephen P. Esposito, in a large private practice in Queens, New York.

Ms. Lachky has participated in multiple Hepatitis C and GI clinical trials as both a Sub-Investigator and the study coordinator.
