Technology Goals: Connecting Patients, Providers, and Payers
Therapy Access Portal – TAP AppA faster, easier, and more complete flow of information between health insurers and healthcare providers will result in more effective therapeutic outcomes for patients – and a better bottom line, notes the recent study “Advancing Healthcare Informatics: The Power of Partnerships” which was developed by the consulting company PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Here at BioPlus we agree completely with the value of integrating informatics to help achieve the goals of an outcomes-based healthcare style. Informatics – which is the intersection where information science meets healthcare – leverages data to improve health outcomes for patients. This is the goal of our latest technology tool: Therapy Access Portal (TAP App).
TAP App gives physicians the ability to view the pharmacy chart directly on their smartphones or laptops for instant and seamless communication between the physician and our pharmacy. Physicians are also able to e-prescribe, as well as see patient compliance, refills, and interventions by BioPlus staff.
Integrating the “clinical consumer information from electronic medical records, paired with pharmacy data and information about the [patient’s] home setting produces greater insights,” points out the “Advancing Healthcare Informatics: The Power of Partnerships” study. This in turn can enhance “administrative efficiencies; produce higher-quality reporting and tracking measurements, and presents opportunities to create personalized patient health experiences…”
Soon BioPlus will be launching a new version of TAP App for patients to use on their smartphones. This will more fully integrate all the key players – patient, physician, and pharmacy – than ever before. This final step toward the full integration of data lauded by this study will bring our patients closer to the best possible health outcomes for their complex, chronic health conditions.
